Daily Reading #343

This is interesting. I think my wife has a Kindle. Charles Hugh Smith is one of the solid systems-level integrators that looks for solutions, not just problems. Smart guy, and has been getting better ever since I started reading him :

The significant part of this is the statement that Powell’s good  friend is John Williams. I assume the John Williams who runs Shadowstats. Very good news indeed, the head of the Fed does not believe BLM statistics, so to the extent that the FED can avoid obvious stupidity, they are doing so.

Powell has done as well as he could do in ending the worst effect of a series of Fed Chairman using easy money and the resulting bubble in all things financial, and told everyone clearly how he was going to do it, regular small rate hikes. He just didn’t tell them what he was doing, namely popping all of the bubbles, giving them all as much time to adjust as possible.

OK, Trump made a good pick here, I am as encouraged about the economy as it is possible to me, that is more than just hopeful the government won’t make things worse, as they did for about 10 years in the Great Depression. That is not the same as really confident, however.
